Meet Dr. Ajoy Jana
Dr. Ajoy Jana is originally from Pennsylvania, where he grew up in a small town located about an hour from Pittsburgh. He graduated from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina with a Bachelors of Arts in Economics. At Duke, he graduated with honors - Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He then received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, with the highest honor - Alpha Omega Alpha. Following his orthopedic surgery residency training at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio, he completed a fellowship in hip and knee replacement at the world-renowned Anderson Orthopedic Clinic in Alexandria, Virginia.
After practicing for three years in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Jana relocated to Omaha and joined Methodist Physicians Clinic in 2002. He is board certified and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Jana was Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Nebraska Methodist Hospital from 2010-2013.
Dr. Jana specializes in the management of arthritic hips and knees. He was the first surgeon in Nebraska to start using the muscle-sparing direct anterior approach for hip replacement in 2007, and is considered the area expert on this surgical technique. Because of his extensive experience, Dr. Jana frequently lectures and teaches other orthopedic surgeons about direct anterior approach hip replacement. He also serves as a consultant to Johnson & Johnson DePuy Orthopedics.
Dr. Ajoy Jana has three children and is married to Dr. Laura Jana, a nationally renowned pediatrician, author, and speaker. Dr. Jana is an avid volunteer and patient education advocate in our community and at his alma mater, Duke University.
